SPOTLIGHT ON TONI LAWS GUEST CT MEMBER

Welcome to our guest CT member Toni Laws Toni was chosen for this spot for the month for her stunning layout she done in last months challenge . Below is a little about this very talented lady and some examples of her work in both digi and paper scrapbooking ........

Hi, my name is Toni, I'm a SAHM, happily married for 9 years and I have 6 kids aging from 25 to 4 yo, I also have 2 grandsons and 2 more expected any day now! I started keeping scrapbooks back in the late 70s, as a teenager, but started my first 'proper' scrapbooking album after the death of my son to SIDS in 1996. I desperately needed to mark his place in the world, and felt an ordinary photo album couldn't do what I needed.I went to my first class in 06, and felt like my brain had caught fire, I was so blown away by what was out there and what others were doing. I still frequently dream about scrapping.I now do a mix of digi and paper scrapping, and love them both. Digi helps me to be a bit more daring and risky, where paper is really satisfying for my hands. My favourite things to scrap are my Beloved Husband, my kids and grandkids, our holidays, and our old family photos -- I love being able to record memories and stories that would otherwise be lost. My fave product ever is Bazzill cardstock, I use it on 99% of my paper LOs -- just love the texture and colours I guess. One of my fave techniques recently is to make my own ghost letters and shapes. I cut up old plastic milk cartons, cut out letters and shapes with my Sizzix or by hand, and colour them with alcohol inks or leave them plain. They can be punched with big strong punches and can also be embossed with my Cuttlebug dies on the Sizzix. Now I use WA milk cartons which are quite thin, so if you live interstate be careful when trying this. It might help to soften the plastic in hot water first. Scrapping has already given me so much -- albums that are treasured by the whole family, a creative outlet, new friends -- and I hope that will always continue. In ten years time I would like to be still scrapping, and all caught up on my albums!
