Val Thorpe ...Val will be creating some wonderful cards to inspire all you card crafters out there ...
Hello my name is Val and I am wife of 37 years to Simon, who is mostly supportive of my hobby – but I really don’t think he gets it :D. I have two kids – a son – Clint who is nearly 30 and has a gorgeous girlfriend Lin who has become very much part of our family and a beautiful daughter Storm who is nearly 27. I am about to become Granny to twins (my sons) and I am super excited to have some little yummies who will become the centre of my scrappy obsession. I also have four yorkies who I absolutely love and adore and a very spoilt maine coon called Hansa who is gorgeous :D I have lived in Johannesburg, South Africa for the last 33 years and I am very proudly South African.
I am an obsessive paper crafter, compulsive hoarder of crafty supplies, pathological picture taker, passionate story teller, wannabe artist who loves to travel and I totally love my life. I love to create pretty things even if no-one else cares :D I have been crafting for most of my life and loved it. About 10 years ago I went on a card making course with a friend and my love of paper and all things related started – a short while later I discovered scrapbooking (instant addiction) and I have never wavered since. I have a beautiful studio at home (more like a small shop) and I can be found in there every day with music blaring and my dogs at my feet while I play. Even though I scrap all day my favourite time to play is late at night when the house is dark and quiet.
I love challenges because they make me think outside the box and that will be my starting point, I never have a clear vision in my head of a finished product, my layouts usually just evolve and because of this I find it very hard to scrap outside of my studio because I never know that to take with me. I think it is this process that gets me the most excited.
I am currently on the DT for CSI and Let’s Scrap, and done GDT’s at Scrap Africa and I have one coming up at Scrap Friends. I have been published in several of our local magazines and I teach a class on a Thursday night – I also have a scrap and chat with my three best friends and we have been meeting every Thursday morning for the last 10 years and I would not miss that for anything.
I hope to be able to inspire others with my work. I am a total social media butterfly and can be found on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram. I also have a blog at http://valbellesramblings.blogspot.com
Thanks so much
